2.      Develop a written report for the Medical Director outlining the department status with strategies and tactics for management going forward. The report should focus on opportunities for:

a.      Manpower readiness

b.      Future staffing needs

c.       Improvements in peer and utilization review

d.      Quality Assurance

e.       CE needs and opportunities for staff development

f.         Addressing unmet clinical and technology needs

g.      Establishing targets for clinical performance by diagnosis, addressing LOS, infection rates, readmission, etc.

h.     Opportunities to enhance resident training

i.        Review credentialing to ensure compliance with Joint Commission (JC) standards in anticipation of future accreditation

3.      Provide ongoing leadership of the department’s administrative functions, coordinating schedules of the attending surgeons and support staff as well overseeing their performance evaluations

4.      Resolve staff conflicts or grievances within the Department or between surgery and other departments of the hospital

5.      Support physician recruitment activities for the Department of Surgery and as well as for other departments

6.       Assurance compliance with hospital and military regulations concerning operations, security and other relevant issues

7.       Responsible for special projects as assigned from the Medical Director
